Accessibility

Digital information should be clear and usable for more people.

Joint Vision is working to make its website easier to navigate, read and understand across devices, assistive technologies and different access needs.

Our approach

Design for keyboard, touch, screen size and readable content.

The production website is intended to support clear heading structure, true links, visible keyboard focus, meaningful alternative text, sufficiently large controls, responsive layouts and reduced-motion preferences.

Navigation

Keyboard and focus

Interactive elements should be reachable in a logical order, have visible focus and work without a mouse.

Reading

Clear language and type

Headings, body text, labels and calls to action should be readable and avoid unnecessarily small interface text.

Images and media

Alternative and reduced-motion options

Meaningful images should have useful text alternatives, while decorative images should not create unnecessary screen-reader noise.

Responsive use

Mobile and zoom

Content should reflow across common screen sizes without hiding essential information or requiring horizontal scrolling.

Request an alternative

Patient Services can provide information another way.

Contact Joint Vision if website content, booking information or directions cannot be accessed in the required format. The team can discuss a reasonable alternative such as telephone assistance or a different document format.

Third-party services

Some external platforms are outside Joint Vision's direct control.

Online booking, maps, media and other external services may have different accessibility features. Report difficulties so Joint Vision can offer another route where practical and raise issues with the relevant provider.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility requires testing and feedback, not only a design checklist.

Joint Vision intends to review the live website across keyboard use, screen readers, colour contrast, zoom, mobile devices, forms, booking handoffs and representative patient tasks. Identified issues should be prioritised according to their impact.
